Stargate Atlantis - Season 5 - Partial Review
tv show review // Mark Yuasa

I was a bit slow to catch up to season 5 of Atlantis. I must have forgotten all about it with the writers' strike last year, adding to that, a very early start to the season way back in July of '08.
Now well into the season, we haven't seen any jaw-dropping plot twists, or exceptionally good writing for that matter, but that's not the kind of show SGA is. It's not high-minded and preachy like Star Trek, or edgy and sexy like Battlestar Galactica. Atlantis is just good, goofy fun. And there's nothing wrong with that at Laidback Geek.

Star Trek TNG - Season 3 - Review
tv show review // Mark Yuasa
I'm re-watching TNG all the way through for the nth time.
The show really comes into its own in year three. The cast really gels, the story lines are more mature, and the writing is matched by stellar performances.
X-Files Season 2 - Partial
tv show review // Mark Yuasa
Just finished the episode with the Satanic cult PTA group. The creepiest part of that episode is the pig dissection. Ewww.
Enough of the cults and monster. Give us more "Purity Control!"
At least the Scully bump watching is over.
Naruto - The Series
tv show review // Mark Yuasa
I've been watching the long-running Naruto anime series on Fansub* (thanks dattebayo) on-and-off since 2004 or so. In total, Naruto ran for 220 episodes, three feature films and several OVA/specials from late 2002 to early 2007** (in Japan).
The Shonen "Genre"
Naruto is something of a spiritual successor to the Dragonball Z series. It's another quality Shonen Jump franchise that has all the ingredients adolescent boys the world over love:
